Amitabh Bachchan 'snubbed by Indian film festival'

Tuesday, November 17, 2009
Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly been snubbed by one of the organisers of the International Film Festival of India.

The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) apparently wanted to invite the actor to the event but the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) objected.

"We always feel that he should come but what can we do? It is only up to the DFF," the ESG's Rajendra Talak told Express India.

However, the DFF has denied ever having a conversation with the ESG about inviting Bachchan.

"We have not received any proposal either formal or informal from ESG on inviting Amitabh Bachchan to the festival. I am in regular touch with ESG officials and there has been no such request from them," said S M Khan, DFF director.

The International Film Festival of India will be held in Goa from November 23 to December 3 in Panaji and Margao.
