As one of her friends vouch for her guru gyan on flirting tips on how a girl is a natural magnet, must have the air of confidence and flaunt her best asset. Yes, that's right, if you have it flaunt it. Begin with exchanging admiring glances. Indulge in light-hearted flirtatious banter, the never ending tips on flirting right.

Disprin, condoms are a must: Neha

Monday, December 21, 2009

Be it Priyadarshan or Saurabh Shukla, Neha Dhupia seems to be everyone’s favourite these days. No wonder we see her again in Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi, Shukla's latest film releasing on December 31. Having played a variety of roles, this time Neha dons the role of a sultry seductress. Or is she a victim? Let's hear it from Neha herself…

How was it working in yet another Saurabh Shukla film?

Oh it was great fun. He is a fantastic director, very patient and understanding. It’s a comedy and the screenplay is fascinating. The film has already won an award for Best Screenplay at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York.

What is Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi all about? How do you fit into the whole scheme of things?

The film revolves around three married couples. Then we come across one drunken night, one missing phone number and one unsolved mystery. I enter the party alone and wait for my boyfriend and end up drinking a lot. What happens next forms the crux of the plot.

So you are the ‘mystery girl’ in the film. Do you really seduce Rajat Kapoor in that drunken stupor?

Oh yes, I am the mystery girl. It is one of the most fabulous characters I have played so far. Well, about trying to seduce Rajat, I really can’t give it out. I do flirt and get drunk in the party but then may be I am a 'poor-little-girl’ who didn’t know what to do. You never know!

We can’t help asking you about the interesting kit you have been distributing during the promotions of the film…

The reason why Pritish communication and Mirah entertainment have included some interesting items in the press kit (Read condoms, contraceptive pills, party smart capsules, energy drink and a Disprin tablet) is a funny take on what one should carry in his/her purse before heading for a party. One should play it safe, you see.

Well, will you carry those stuff in your purse?

So far I haven’t. But you surely won’t mind if a friend carries a Disprin when you are hungover.

Have you always been so choosy about roles?

I think working with independent filmmakers has its own charm. You learn so much. It made me a better actor. In our industry, people turn up becoming stars before they become actors. I am glad that I am learning more and more about the craft everyday.

Given a chance, how would you describe Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi in a line?

It’s funny and thrilling entertainer, which everyone can relate to. Does it sound right?!

After Mithya, the film again sees you teaming up with Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey. How was it sharing the screen space with them?

Ranvir has a cameo but nonetheless, working with them has always been fun. But the best part is we never praise or criticise just for the heck of it. We share such a rapport where we can be brutally honest with each other on the sets. Even Saurabh is open to ideas. The fact that I am doing another film with the team says it all. It’s called I Am 24, again directed by Saurabh Shukla.

Any other interesting project coming up?

Coming up next are a thriller called Raftaar. I’ve also finished working on a film called Pappu Can’t Dance Saala. And last but not the least there’s Action Replay with Akshay and Aishwarya, directed by Vipul Shah.

Hollywood is lonely: Neha Dhupia

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

It may be the 'in-thing' for many Indian actors to flaunt even blink-and-miss roles in Hollywood movies, but actress Neha Dhupia is in no mood to leave the comfort of being at home. ''I don't think I can move out of India as it makes me feel very lonely. Call me a brat, but its just that I am so stuck with the comforts in my country that I can't see myself going to Hollywood now, unless they come to me," Dhupia said in an interview. After getting rave reviews for two international assignments, both television shows, she said Hollywood offers also came to her kitty. "I did get few offers after that, but I didn't sign any projects," the actress said on the sidelines of a fashion show here to mark the launch of the eastern region finals of Signature Club Golf Championship.

She has finished shooting for Hollywood actress-singer Jessica Simpson TV show 'Price Of Beauty', where she was chosen as the Indian beauty ambassador. In another American TV series, 'Bollywood Hero', which spoofs the Mumbai-based industry, Dhupia played a demanding Bollywood star alongside Hollywood A-listers like Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore. After having debuted opposite Ajay Devgn in the 2003-hit 'Qayamat', the 29-year-old former Miss India keeps juggling between hardcore commercial movies and new-age offbeat cinema.

Elated at the box-office success of laughter-riot 'De Dana Dan', Dhupia would now be seen in the critically appreciated 'Raat Gayi Baat Gayi'. "We are going to redefine comedy now as we are talking about adultery and one-night stand in 'Raat Gayi Baat Gayi'," she said. Talking about her role, she said, "I play a mysterious character whose only fault is that she is sexy and gorgeous looking". While rejecting suggestions that adult comedies and the concept of one-night stand doesn't work at the box-office, the 'Julie' actor said, "I am sure we have a huge market in India for such films." Asked if she wants to stick to playing comedy roles, Dhupia said her priority is to entertain people. "I want to stick to entertainment. It can be any genre of comedy - it can be slapstick or a satire like 'Mithya'. I will always be associated with films and movies, but not projects. Projects are about money, but a film is about entertainment," she said. On playing supporting roles in many movies, she lamented that options were very limited for her. "The choice is to be the girl who dances around trees or to be the girl who makes everyone laugh," she said.

Neha is promoting boyfriend Ritwik's game squash

Sunday, December 6, 2009

Neha Dhupia is lending support to beau Ritwik Bhattacharya at the ongoing PSA Squash Masters 2009 tournament in the city. Over the weekend, the actress attended the event along with the squash champ.

Though the couple has often been spotted at social events together, Neha is now stepping out with him even in his professional endeavours. She is extremely fond of the game (for reasons obvious!) and now wants to do her bit to promote the sport. A while back she also learnt to play the game.

Says Neha, "I'm doing whatever I can to bring more recognition to the sport. The tournament has the biggest names of squash participating. Cricket dominates everything. I am a big fan of cricket too but it is high time the rest of the games also get their due."

She will be accompanying Ritwik to the tournament matches at Bombay Gymkhana till December 10.
Though she is not too keen on talking about Ritwik and their relationship, she adds, "All that I can say is that I am supporting him in his endeavours -- the sporting ones!"

Meanwhile she is also looking forward to her next release Saurabh Shukla's Raat Gayi Baat Gayi this month-end.
"The movie is about all those things that one does not like to talk about. It takes on one-night stands to drunken encounters.

Doing this film was a comfort zone as it was with friends like Rajat Kapoor and Vinay Pathak. The film has bagged an award at the recent South Asian Inter-national Film Festival, 2009.

Last week, she was in Dubai performing at the Dreamz 2009 concert. "I did a jig with Prabhudeva and Salman -- that was the high point of the trip for me!'
