Ranbir-Priyanka kiss each other

Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra have shot their first kissing scene together. They did it for Sajid Nadiadwala's Anjaana Anjaani. The smooching scene was shot during their recent Bangkok schedule. Directed by Siddharth Anand, it's the first pairing of the two actors.

A close hand reveals, "There was an internal joke with the unit that Siddharth would definitely have a kiss written into the script as he made Ranbir kiss three gals in their film together -- Bachna Ae Haseeno, so it was kind of a given."

The close hand further added, "Despite not knowing each other, Ranbir and PC's on-screen chemistry is amazing. They'd met and interacted at partied before but never sat down and really talked. So it was almost like their first meeting on the set. They are both very professional and did lot of readings for their romantic scenes. Also they hung out and spent some time getting to know each other before the shoot began."

It is believed that there might me one more kissing scene in the film which will be shot during their New York schedule later this month. "The script demands they get flirty and there's a scene that will shot at Times Square at New Year's Eve which has them getting cosy," added the close hand.

Miss World will not change the world: Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra, who is here on the panel of the judges to crown Miss World 2009, feels it is wrong to expect the winning beauty to change the world. "Miss World is not the President of a country, and people should not expect her to be that," Priyanka, who won the title in 2000, said. The 59th edition of the contest that takes place here this evening will see beauties from 112 countries participating and Priyanka says that the winner of the pageant is just another girl doing her bit to help. "She's just a girl who has been given this pedestal of power and position and she is going to do her bit to help whoever needs help, especially because the Miss World organisation does so much for children who are disadvantaged, sick and underprivileged," Priyanka said. "It's doing fundraisers, raising money for charities, so she is going to help people who need it, but she is not going to eradicate poverty or change the world," she added.

The beauty queen-turned-actress has not yet met Miss India, Pooja Chopra, at the rehearsals here, but has extended her best wishes to Pooja who is nursing a twisted ankle. Priyanka also explained what she would be looking for in the winner. "I'll be looking for a girl with substance who knows what she's saying and can face world media. I will see whether she can stand up to the pressure of being Miss World, because it comes with a lot of expectations," Priyanka said.

Priyanka, who has visited South Africa a number of times in recent years while shooting for films, said that the country to be "one of my most favourite places." "I love the people... Johannesburg is my first time, but I love Cape Town, where I've shot several films. The people, the place, the environment is so energetic," she said. When told that South African film critics were debating whether she or rival Kareena Kapoor was the best actress of 2009, Chopra thanked her local fans for the support they had shown for her roles in 'Kaminey' and 'What's Your Raashee?'. "You know I'm a Punjabi girl and to learn the Marathi and its unique culture, especially the body language, was extremely challenging. But I enjoyed doing that. Plus it was a bonus working with Vishal Bhardwaj, who is extremely talented," Priyanka said. "'What's Your Raashee' was also challenging because I played twelve roles, a first in the world for any actress," she added. Priyanka also talked about her upcoming film 'Pyar Impossible' with Uday Chopra which is set to hit the theatres on January 8. "That film is a beautiful romantic comedy. It's sweet story like the kind of movie you want to take your girlfriend to. It's about this geek guy who has always been in love with this unattainable girl and he totally believes how it is impossible that he can get somebody like her. The story moves forward when they meet and enter into each others' lives," Priyanka said.

Priyanka chops hair for film

Priyanka Chopra who was seen sporting a short, sleek, polished bob hairstyle at an event, appeared to have looked no further than Katie Holmes' well groomed bob haircut to choose her new look.

Priyanka will be seen sporting the look in her forthcoming film Pyaar Impossible, which is said to be inspired by the hit British film Notting Hill. Though Priyanka has been experimenting with her hair lately - she had trimmed her long wavy hair into a shoulder length style and was also seen with coloured hair extensions at a party some time back - her new classic bob look that really takes the cake is not actually her natural look, informs an industry insider.

The Bollywood star hasn't chopped her hair short, as seen on her now, and is relying on a wig for the effect.

Manish Malhotra, costume designer for the movie, says about Priyanka's hot new look, "The short hairstyle is something that we discussed early on. She sports two looks in the movie, the short hairstyle is for the second half, where she plays a working woman living in Singapore. I also designed the outfits keeping in mind her hair. So she wears short fitted skirts or formal shorts. The look is fuss- free and glam, just like her hair style. I also paid attention to details, like we have not made her wear any earrings with her short hair, as hanging earrings would have killed the look." So the fact that Priyanka is carrying the short, shorn look even at events goes on to say that she has really taken the publicity gimmicks to promote movies to a newer level.

The actor knows that her new look would get the film pre-release attention.

Style watchers, however, are happy with the new look, as the chic style not only suits her face but also highlights her facial contours. During her public outing a day ago in the look, Priyanka wore green cosmetic lenses, perhaps to complete her edgy, contemporary woman look.

Interestingly, hair changes are also linked to changes in real life.

Deepika Padukone recently got her long tresses trimmed as soon as she broke up with her steady boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. According to pop psychologists, women often try newer styles when they want to reassert themselves. Priyanka loses her make-up for Vishal Bhardwaj's next

In her next, a female-centric flick with Vishal Bhardwaj, Priyanka Chopra will be greasepaint-free. The film is based on a short story written by Ruskin Bond.

A source reveals that Priyanka plays an Anglo-Indian woman who will have seven husbands and eventually end up killing them all. Reveals a source, "It's Priyanka's toughest role to date. Her character is extremely volatile. It being an out-and-out thriller, PC's look will also be different. It was Vishal's idea to make her totally make-up free. Her plain-Jane look worked in Kaminey, and he wants to recreate that again."

This will be Vishal's first woman-oriented film. "The protagonist is a girl and the story is told from her perspective. Also, apart from PC there is no other major known face in the film. The seven husbands will be played by relative newcomers or by supporting characters."

Ruskin and Vishal have been working on the screenplay together. The movie goes on floors early next year.

Priyanka-Shahid ignore each other

Rumoured to be a hot couple in B-town once, Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor have kept their relationship well-guarded. Till date, the couple keeps everyone guessing about the status of their relationship.

As far as we can remember, there were reports that Shahid was upset with Piggy Chops’s drinking habit and thus cracks developed in their friendship. But then, we saw the two indulging in a little jig at the Rajiv Gandhi Award ceremony, and it made it evident that the two are more than happy to be in each other’s company.

Fainting spells seem contagious in the industry. Priyanka Chopra started the trend, and now Asin follows suit. It’s worrying though, that the compulsion to maintain an hourglass figure is affecting the health of the actresses. They lose weight at an alarming rate and resort to unhealthy dietary plans. It’s bound to catch up, sometimes even in public.

On Saturday (October 24), just two days before her 24th birthday, Asin collapsed at a club in Andheri where she was doing a series of non-stop television interviews for her latest film.

In the middle of the conversations, Asin simply passed out and had to be revived by her staff and friends who rushed forward with instant energy-boosters.

Resting at her home on her birthday on Monday, Asin laughed, “I’ve become quite a hazard zone, haven’t I? Going by the number of mishaps, I qualify as the desi Calamity Jane. Actually, I hadn’t slept at all that day or the night before. I had been doing back-to-back interviews for London Dreams for the last one week with just 3-4 hours of sleep. On that day, there was no sleep or food at all. Anyway, I’m making up for the exhausting week with the most peaceful and happy birthday of my life.”

Asin brought in her birthday with a quiet dinner on Sunday night with her close friends. She said, “I had eight of my closest friends over for dinner. We had a ball. At midnight, they made me cut a cake. I felt like I was 12 years old again.”

Earlier in the evening, Asin arrived home to a big surprise. She said, “When I opened the door, the entire house was done up with balloons by my parents, just like they used to for my birthdays when I was a child. I had to burst quite a few balloons because there was no room to even walk. I’ve never felt happier.”

The second half of the day was devoted to spending time with the kids in her highrise apartment. She said, “Fortunately there was enough cake and chocolates to go around. So it was great fun. This is the best birthday I’ve had.”

Priyanka Chopra reuniting with Hurman?

Shahid Kapoor may be picking up fights for her but seems like Priyanka Chopra is more interested in getting cosy with ex beau Hurman Baweja. The stars who are shooting for Ashutosh Gowariker's Whats Your Rashee? were busy mingling with each other on the sets. The crew members were left amazed seeing this. They could not believe two exes were so comfortable in each others company as the case is always the other way around.

Priyanka and Hurman shot a sizzling rain dance which wrapped up the shooting for the movie. The cast and the crew decided to celebrate this by organising a party at a bungalow nearby in Khandala. Priyanka and Hurman who attended the party had their eyes locked on each other. The crew members could sense the sparks between the former couple and they didn't intend to hide it. Well it's a wake up call for Shahid to find some new actress to mingle with.

While they have to make public announcements saying that they have clearly moved on, the actor is silently but surely scaling new heights.

An internet search engine says he’s the “most searched guy’’ — even more than current hotties Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan; 68% of his fans are women; he has one of those designer-made, eight-pack physiques; he has four back-to-back releases —Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey, Ken Ghosh’s Yahoo, his best buddy Ahmad Khan’s Paathshaala (it’s only a special appearance) and, Yash Chopra’s Hadippa with Rani Mukerji. “When I’m finished with these projects, I will start work on Parmeet Sethi’s next for Yash Chopra again with Anoushka Sharma (the Rab Ne girl),’’ says the reluctant talker who’s been completely off the media radar “simply because I feel work is all I should talk about’’.

Ok, we’ll start with talking shop. Is Parmeet Sethi’s film an extension of Dhoom 2, with some heavy dancing thrown in, as is being speculated? “No,’’ he says. “I can’t discuss the script or storyline right now, but it’s certainly not a Dhoom 2-like film as is being reported,’’ Shahid says.

Asked to tackle his own reputation of being the most “interfering’’ guy on a set, Shahid gamely explains, “Listen films are my raison de etre. On a set I am like a wired animal. I keep asking my director — can I come from the left or should I come to the right? Should I wear my shirt out or does it look better tucked in? Now if someone is going to report all this and equate my work queries as ‘insecurities or interference’... then what I am to say?’’

Currently this 28-year-old star is on pins and needles because his next release Kaminey comes with sky-high expectations. “Yup, Vishal Bharadwaj says my role is going to definitely surprise the audience. It is a hugely challenging role, very different from Jab We Met, and though JWM is the reason why Vishal signed me for Kaminey —both roles are poles apart.’’

Kaminey also brings with it the Priyanka Chopra romance angle; it is being extensively reported that the two lead stars of the film are dating each other. “I’m not left with much of a choice, am I?’’ asks Shahid. “I’m linked to all my co-stars. With Kismat Konnection it was Vidya Balan, now with Kaminey it is Priyanka.’’ Smiling, he adds, “Priyanka and I are good friends. However, people have been jumping the gun. If we take our relationship further, I may talk about it; but people are in a rush to link us together. I will not lie or hide a relationship but I will not stand on the rooftop and announce it either.’’

Ok, but will he at least confirm the last rumour that said he asked for Rs 18 crores for a film? “I will neither recognise nor reject that figure because I don’t wish to talk about my remuneration,’’ he says, adding, “My first film was made at a budget of Rs 3.50 crores; and now I’m being asked whether I charge six times that amount? The only thing that takes you forward in life is a hit. I definitely don’t wish to be short changed; but I don’t make unreasonable demands either.’’

Priyanka Chopra plays 12 roles, dances for 22 hours

Not only is Priyanka Chopra playing as many as 12 different characters in Ashutosh Gowariker`s "What`s Your Raashee?", she has also stunned everybody by dancing non-stop for 22 hours for a special song in the movie.

Under the choreographic supervision of Raju Khan, Priyanka performed to a song that required her to bring all the 12 characters together in all their varying moods and personalities.

"Priyanka shot with Raju Khan (who is Saroj Khan`s son) for 22 hours at a stretch. At times she couldn`t sit or take a breather for hours at a stretch. It was very important to get the continuity right. Otherwise the characters` graph would`ve become lopsided. To dance and emote to a song in 12 different looks and make-up all at once is not an easy thing," said a source close to the film.

Though Priyanka isn`t allowed to speak about it, it was a challenge that required her to swing from mood to mood at the drop of a beat.

Apparently Priyanka wasn`t allowed breaks between shots, as this would have broken the rhythm of the 12 characters as captured in one line of vision. Each of the characters represents a different star sign of the zodiac.

The film also stars Priyanka`s ex-beau Hurman S Baweja. Although Priyanka and Hurman broke up after the disastrous "Love Story 2050", onlookers say the two are so compatible off and on screen that it`s impossible to tell the status of their personal equation.

"They`re laughing and joking on the sets even when they aren`t facing the camera. In fact, Hurman was there to support her when she did the tough 12-avatar dance act," a source said.

Priyanka`s unique role, which can only be compared to Sanjeev Kumar`s nine avatars in "Naya Din Nayi Raat" could well have been Kareena Kapoor`s, if she hadn`t turned it down.

"Yes, it was offered to me and Shahid Kapur. I`d have loved to do another film with Shahid. But the dates were clashing with Karan`s film that Rensil d`Silva is directing with me and Saif," Kareena told reporters.

The actress, who broke up with Shahid while shooting for "Jab We Met", is currently dating Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan.

"We`re professionals, all of us. Even if I`m working in a film with Saif in place of a film with Shahid, we`re thorough professionals. There`s no time to party or go out or do any of the fun things. We shot in a tube station in Philadelphia in below-freezing temperatures and we need to cover as much work as possible in limited time," Kareena said.
